Oct scan11/7/2023 ![]() Your doctor will let you know what your appropriate test interval is during your examination.Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) can image the retinal vasculature in vivo, without the need for contrast dye. Some patients will need a yearly OCT and some patients will only need the OCT every 2-3 years. This aids us in making treatment decisions for patients now and down the road if changes arise.Ī: There isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ answer to this question as it depends on your individual eye health and your family history. The OCT adds another layer to our comprehensive care and allows us to gather even more information on your eye health. I am most excited to provide this next level of care to our patients without the inconvenience and expense of a specialist appointment. Previously, patients who needed this test had to be referred to a specialist. Q: What is it about this particular technology that you find most exciting?Ī: The OCT gives our clinic a powerful tool for detecting and diagnosing eye disease. If anything that needs further testing is detected on the wellness OCT, your doctor may recommend more comprehensive OCT testing that can likely be billed to your medical insurance. Insurance does not cover this type of OCT. This is the introductory OCT test that we recommend everyone undergo once to have a baseline on file. Q: How much is an OCT test? Is it covered by insurance?Ī: A basic wellness OCT is $29. ![]() The eye doctor sees the results of the test immediately and will go over them during the examination. There is a brief bright light for each image taken – typically 1-2 images will be taken per eye. The patient is positioned to lean onto a chin rest and look at a target. Q: Can you describe the patient experience when using the OCT?Ī: The OCT is a quick and painless test it is similar to having a picture taken. All patients with diabetes should undergo OCT testing yearly as well. Patients of all ages with a family history or risk factors for glaucoma and macular degeneration should also have an OCT scan. Q: To what patients do you recommend using the OCT?Ī: We recommend a baseline OCT to all patients age 40 and older. The OCT can diagnose very mild conditions that would otherwise go undetected, such as swelling in the macula (center of your vision), changes from diabetes, and early macular degeneration. By measuring the thickness of specific layers of the retina, the OCT helps more accurately predict a patient’s individual risk for developing glaucoma. The OCT also gives the doctor information to reference in the future if your eye health status changes.Ī: An OCT can aid in diagnosing many conditions earlier and with much more precision than traditional methods have allowed in the past. This gives the eye doctor comprehensive information on your risk for glaucoma or any variations in the anatomy of your retina. Q: For whom is it recommended to do an OCT test?Ī: Everyone should have a baseline OCT once. It is impossible to see this level of detail directly during and examination, so OCT technology is an excellent way to find eye disease earlier. OCT is a specialized scan that utilizes light waves to obtain a cross-sectional image of the retina. A: OCT stands for Optical Coherence Tomography.

Russian collection vessel11/7/2023 The Barents Observer reported that, later this year, the Rossita will begin collecting spent nuclear fuel containers from Andreyeva Bay for transport from Atomflot by rail to Mayak.Afghanistan, officially the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, is a landlocked country located at the crossroads of Central Asia and South Asia. The local public in the Murmansk and Leningrad Regions, has, on the other hand, not received prospective repository sites in their locations so warmly. Its spent fuel will also need to be hauled to reprocessing or storage. The floating plant, called the Akademik Lomonosov, is meant to replace the land-based Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant, which is slated for decommissioning in the same year. Zolotkov said the vessel might be used to collect spent fuel from Russia’s arduously delayed and controversial first floating nuclear power plant, which Russia’s nuclear utility plans to tow to the far eastern Kamchatka region by 2019. Other hints as to the INF-2’s were offered in the official Izvestiya article, which quoted the new ship’s designer as saying the vessel might have an additional duties in Russia’s Far East. There, Russia’s national operator for nuclear waste handling, known as NO RAO, is planning to build the country’s first geologic repository for nuclear waste, which is scheduled to start operations in 2024. In particular, it could be used to transport waste to the Krasnoyarsk region. Zolotkov doesn’t see much use for the INF-2 in the Northwest Russian Arctic, but suggested that it might be useful to various nuclear sites along the Yenesei and Ob rivers, which flow north through Siberia. The joint effort of these other ships made Andrei Zolotkov, a Bellona nuclear expert who has served on Russia’s nuclear vessels in the Arctic, scratch his head about the possible mission of the new vessel, which presently is only known by its project number: The INF -2. Offworld trading company strategy games11/7/2023 ![]() The entire campaign is like a turn-based variant of the rapid-fire multiplayer game. In the endlessly replayable singleplayer campaign, the world pauses whenever you make a decision, and can indeed be halted at anytime with a push of the space bar. The market never stands still but, thankfully, the game does. To succeed you'll need to be flexible, not just building bigger and better, but willing to change course, tearing down facilities that have been rendered obsolete by market forces and replacing them with something new. I can't think of another strategy game that is so changeable. Performing the buy-out might then make the buyer vulnerable to the remaining corporations and will almost certainly cause an upset in the markets that might dangerously upset the balance of power.Įverything that you do has consequences and everything that your opponents do will have an impact on the state of the world. Cash alone isn't always enough and the buy-out might require liquidation of stock. That goes back to that opening phrase: money is no object. ![]() They may have the ability to snuff you out but the game doesn't tell them the potential victim sees the Sword of Damocles but unless their opponent is paying close attention, they might just see a CEO sitting on his throne. Your opponent - the person currently holding all the cards - doesn't get that message. It crunches the numbers, figures out that somebody has enough assets to buy a majority holding in your company, and lets you know. When you're vulnerable to a takeover, the game tells you. The end-game isn't destruction, it's a hostile takeover. You're not trying to destroy your opponents, you're trying to absorb them. They can't thrive – or even survive - without what the others have. The difficulty of operating on a planet with an unfriendly environment makes the corporations reliant on one anothers' produce, particularly in the early game. Offworld creates an incredible tension through this forced cooperation. The claims system ensures that your corporation can't produce everything – you need to specialise and, crucially, you need to engage in a symbiotic relationship with your opponents. There are other ways to get them as well, but mostly you'll be working your way up through the game's equivalent of a tech tree, enjoying a brief flurry of expansion each step of the way. There are obvious sequences of construction to follow in the early minutes of each map, but to win you'll need to adapt to the situation as it changes.Įverytime you upgrade your HQ, which costs cash and specific resources you'll receive a new set of claims. Looking at a random map, you must decide where to place your headquarters and then secure the first pieces of land that you'll construct factories, solar panels and other facilities on. The most important decisions are related to the limited claims you're given at the beginning of each game. These disrupt and interfere, cutting off sources of revenue, stealing resources or manipulating the market to present false figures. There are ways to interact with other players directly through purchases made on the black market. You're always making choices, every second that you play. Create a monopoly on one of the resources necessary for survival on the planet and you can hoard the fruits of your labour (or your labourers' labour, I guess), forcing everyone else to ship the stuff in from off-planet at great expense. Build a production chain to make glass or computer components and you can flood the market with the end-product, causing prices to plummet. Everything that you and your opponents do causes the figures to shift in a sensible fashion. The genius of the game is in making the manipulation of those markets comprehensible while never allowing them to become predictable.Īnd yet they're entirely predictable. Just as many RTS games are played on the minimap, Offworld is played in the numbers at the side of the screen. Mars may be the landscape on which you're constructing the tools of capitalism, but the entire corporate conflict plays out in the markets. Values change constantly in the dynamic market that is the game-space. Offworld Trading Company treats money as ephemeral. It's a phrase that I mean in a very literal sense and cuts to the heart of the brilliance of the game's design: it's a game about making money in which the actual amount of money you have doesn't matter anywhere near as much as the flow of cash and resources. That's the most important lesson I've taken from the hours I've spent running a corporation exploiting the raw materials of Mars. It's also one of the smartest strategy games I've ever played. Offworld Trading Company, the new game from Civ IV lead designer Soren Johnson and his team at Mohawk Games, is a strategic simulation of a sci-fi Martian economy. Dplyr summarize multiple conditions11/7/2023 You might also have noticed the row of three (or four) letter abbreviations under the column names. For now, you don’t need to worry about the differences we’ll come back to tibbles in more detail in wrangle. Tibbles are data frames, but slightly tweaked to work better in the tidyverse. In this article, I have explained how to perform group by dataframe on multiple columns and apply different summarising types to get aggregation on grouped data. This example does the group by on department and state columns, summarises on all columns except grouping columns, and apply the sum & mean functions on all summarised columns. Having non-numeric on summarise returns an error. ![]() While doing this make sure your dataframe has only numeric columns plus grouping columns. Summarise All Columns Except Grouping Columnsįinally, let’s see how to apply the aggregate functions on all columns of the DataFrame except grouping columns. This example does the group by on department and state columns, summarises on salary and bonus columns, and apply the sum & mean functions on each summarised column. Similarly, you can also perform multiple aggregation functions on all summarise columns in R. This example does the group by on department and state columns and summarises on salary column and applies the sum function on each summarised column. I will use infix operator %>% across all our examples as the output of group_by() function is input to summarise() function. For example, x %>% f(y) converted into f(x, y) so the result from the left-hand side is then “piped” into the right-hand side. When we use dplyr package, we mostly use the infix operator %>% from magrittr, it passes the left-hand side of the operator to the first argument of the operator’s right-hand side. Use group_by() function in R to group the rows in DataFrame by multiple columns (two or more), to use this function, you have to install dplyr first using install.packages(‘dplyr’) and load it using library(dplyr).Īll functions in dplyr package take ame as a first argument. Other than this one feature, macpass has been great so far! It's this one last global auto-type with "separate" control over window title from entry title that is really the only missing piece for me. Unfortunately for me, I have hundreds of entries and using 'title' to represent the window title will make it difficult to identify my own database entries, because I have no control over the window title some website chooses to use. In keepass, I used the "Auto-Type-Window" command for each entry to flag the actual window title. It would almost work here in 0.5.1, except the vast majority of my entries the 'title' field is for my own personal use and identification of that entry, rather than the window title of the page I want to log into. In my keepass use case, I use global auto-type heavily. Is the known not functioning part as of 0.5.1 (current latest release) the window associations, window title, and window sequence fields? I am able to use the 'title' field and 'autotype sequence' field and it works with global hot key. After reading this thread and some change logs, it looks like global auto-type is partially functional. Just verifying I'm not missing a working feature somehow. Restarting the program made it respond again. The program was locked but didn't gain focus. ![]() In other news, I did have an instance today where MacPass stopped responding to the autotype. I just find the record in my password database and one keystroke has me logged in. I like my workflow better because it always works. The website then changes, autotype doesn't work, uggh. But I find this method very cumbersome because it requires carefully trying to make a record match a website. Also consistent with KeePass.Īlso, I was able to make autotype work on a website where the titles matched, so that's good. I guess this isn't suppose to work? It would be pretty nice if it did. ![]() I was trying to do the same thing in MacPass. KeePass switches back to the browser (as if I'd hit control-tab), types the username, tab, the password, and hits enter. Here's what I do in Keepass on Windows (and what I was trying in MacPass): I'm familiar with how KeePass on Windows works, but I may not be using it to it's full capability. 0.4.x did wrongfully store a bad default auto type sequence that results in valid bracket counts. What you could check out to clarify if auto type is working: There is however now visual guide if auto type is initiated and has not found any matches. But even in those cases the unique configuration of each browser powered by the same engine can differ quite significantly, e.g., built-in content blockers and filters, which very often allows one web browser to work for me while another one simply won’t.You're correct in your understanding of Autotype. On iOS and iPadOS it’s not (yet) as easy to achieve diversity because of the underlying browser engine commonality. The less commonality between the redundant implementations the better. This is one reason why I always have more than one web browser installed on every internet connected device I own. The other thing to think about is that, in the case of software, higher availability is usually aided by having diversity of implementation between redundant functionality. If this product category follows what we’ve seen with other product categories like office productivity apps, ebook readers, PDF viewers and annotation tools, etc., the best third party apps like 1Password will survive but fewer new startups will jump into the competitive fray for the product category that Apple decides to bundle into the OS. Third parties are going to have an even harder time it's hard to win against "comes with the platform" plus "no added cost." More and more competition for password managers. Hypnogram for kids11/7/2023 This morning, today, I made a few dozens, like these 3: The results are less “digital artist”, and much more realistic, because it’s trained on millions of photographies (an AI must be “trained”). It needs about 1-2 minutes to make one image. This year the Russians invented ruDALL-E ( ) and it’s different, more realistic, and MUCH FASTER than every other similar tools. I made plenty of movies with these: oOOOo Make 20 of them with automation and you’ll find a few great pictures. Not what we expected, but good images, inspiring maybe if you write stories, poetry, or if you draw. But if you ask “Totem” it’s lost, and there come the cool things: For example, GauGAN2 is made for landscapes, so if you ask “ Lake and forest” you get a realistic scenery. Adding words to the prompt, like artists names or words like steampunk – here are bridges, a mantis, an owl, and for the first one “ bird leather gold“:Įach site has its flaws, and one must use them to get things. There are tricks you quickly learn to use with each tool. The next step was to find similar tools ( you enter a text, you get an image) on web pages like, or or the very easy (have fun!). The result is often slow (about one hour to get an image). You’ll find plenty of articles about this, and hundreds of “Google Colabs” with the code to play with. This “Synthetic Imagery” (or GAN Art) was fantastic, but a bit difficult and slow to use. Hi everyone! The “Prompt To Image” processes are blossoming everywhere on the web since Katherine Crowson presented the VQGAN+CLIP tool and made it public. Maybe it’ll create a new job: “digital ideas provider”. I’ll make more, concept art for characters, using initial sketches to create something else, etc. I began to make tutorials (on YT) for digital artists, how they could use this. Unfair, maybe, but people have fun, and are creative (in their own way), and I kind of like it. Today, to get cool images, you have to know what words are useful, and how to combine them. There’s no horse-skill in driving fast cars, it’s like… unfair, right? Drivers developed other skills. Some sites offer this already, in a simple form: Wombo Art, Hypnogram.xyz. Concept artists will use these tools (or teach them), for sketching, to get ideas, for colors, composition, etc. There are hundreds of colabs, and very soon (this year, next year?) you’ll be able to get images in seconds. If you use the free option, you need one hour for an image. Today, it’s a bit difficult to use these Google Colabs. It’s not “real art” (and is it, after all)? And I’ve been banned from many of them! The viewers love them, but the moderators hate them. So, people love it, but some want to ban it. When I post images in forums, like in Reddit, I got things like: I can drive a car, but I can’t take care of a horse (and I’m short of room in my apartment). I can switch on the light, but I don’t have an oil lamp. In a way, I understand that!īut what I feel is they should use it, today. So I found out that some digital artists find it “unfair”. “Luminescent mushrooms in a mystical forest, twilight, fireflies, clearing, bokeh” gives as many as these as you want (hundreds, if you like): I just describe what I want, add some little tricks in words (I’m learning) to precise textures (painting, digital, video game?), and I get pictures, plenty of them, all unique and different. Today I make images with AIs, and that’s cool because… I don’t know how to draw.
